National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa threatens’s to withdraw from wage talks with Eskom, if the power utility continues with action against striking workers.
The trade union released a statement on Thursday accusing the power utility of negotiating in bad faith.
Numsa and the NUM have called for a meeting with public enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan and the Eskom board on Monday.
Eskom last week offered the three main unions a salary increase of seven point five percent this year and seven percent next year and in 2020‚ plus an inflation-linked increase in housing allowances and a one-off cash payment of R5‚000.
So far Solidarity is the only union that accepted the offer last week‚ Numsa and Num are still negotiating.
