On Thursday, former minister, Pravin Gordhan, was laid to rest.
The service, took place at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in KwaZulu-Natal and is set to be followed by a private cremation.
Following his long battle with illness, Gordhan passed away last week at the age of 75.
After being vocal about his feelings on Gordhan following his death, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, voiced his displeasure over the funeral service on social media.
Malema’s metaphorical shots were not direct, but it was evident who he was secretly referring to.
Malema shared a video of the late African National Congress (ANC) leader Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s burial, which was attended by thousands at Orlando Stadium in Gauteng in 2018.
“This is the image of a hero’s funeral, saluting the one who lived and was laid to rest by the people. Not mokete wa dikatse (a ceremony of cats). Malibongwe,” he captioned the clip.
In another picture, the EFF leader displayed a small tent and stated that the shelter would have saved the day, but stopped short of suggesting that the funeral would be better held there than at the massive Durban ICC.
It further said that Gordhan was a man whose legacy is intrinsically connected to the betrayal of the South African people and the downfall of our state-owned enterprises.
“We cannot mourn counter progressive forces that stood against the potential of building a successful, sovereign country that serves its people. instead, we are reminded of the wreckage he leaves behind – wreckage that has ravaged the lives of ordinary South Africans.”
