[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hip Hop star Khuli Chana today settled in the Johannesburg High Court with the South African Police Service (SAPS) after his traumatic shooting ordeal in 2013.
In a case of mistaken identity, Khuli Chana was pursued by the SAPS who believed he was a kidnapper and fired shots at the hip-hop artist. He survived this harrowing ordeal after SAPS fired nine shots at him with an automatic rifle. He sustained minor injuries with a bullet that was lodged in his right finger.
Following the SAPS’ alleged negligence, Chana opened a case against the SAPS for attempted murder.
Chana sued the Minister of Police at the High Court for damages. A settlement has now been agreed by the SAPS.
While Chana accepts that this process has weighed heavily on his mental and emotional health, he has been sustained by the support of his family, friends and fans.
He has remained professional amid the trauma, and acknowledges that the SAPS have been cooperative and taken a calm stance in the matter. He has accepted an apology from the SAPS.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”5515″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Chana believes that this ordeal could have affected his income, but partners and brands that believe in his talent and integrity have rallied behind him and he has signed further deals with them.
