JOHANNESBURG – The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has confirmed one of its officers has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe in Soweto.
The female officer allegedly solicited R100 from a motorist when she was caught red handed.
The officer is now facing a bribery charge at the Dobsonville Police Station.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says the metro cop will appear in court soon.
“The officer was arrested by an RTMC undercover anti-corruption squad during this long weekend when officers should be on duty and ensuring that motorists obey the road rules and traffic regulations.”
