The South African Weather Service has issued a warning about a heatwave expected to grip parts of the Free State, Northern Cape, Gauteng, and Limpopo from Monday, with temperatures set to soar.
The heatwave is anticipated to last until Saturday, with some areas experiencing highs of 40°C or more.
In Limpopo, temperatures will be particularly extreme, with Musina forecasted to reach 42°C by the end of the week.
Persistent high temperatures are also expected in the central and southeastern parts of the North West and the northern Free State until Wednesday, according to reports from the SA Weather Service.
The Lowveld regions of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, along with the Valley and Bushveld areas of Limpopo and northern Gauteng, will endure extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions on Wednesday.
Pretoria will experience clear skies on Monday, with temperatures peaking at 34°C.
No rainfall is expected throughout the week, and by the weekend, temperatures are forecasted to climb to 38°C.
In Johannesburg, isolated thundershowers are anticipated on Thursday, with a maximum temperature of 30°C.
However, the heat will intensify toward the weekend, with temperatures rising to 34°C on Friday and 36°C on Saturday.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the heatwave.
