Speaking to reporters on Tuesday during a regular security meeting at the state secretariat in Alausa, Lagos, with the secretaries of local governments, the SSG offered this counsel.
At the 2020 demonstration, where young people called for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, thugs set fire to a number of public buildings, including a Bus Rapid Transit terminal. There were reports of casualties.
There are Nigerians who are organizing another demonstration that is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, and last until August 10, in response to the rising cost of life and staple goods.
The purpose of the “End Bad Governance in Nigeria” demonstration is to bring the suffering of the people to the notice of the Federal Government.

We have determined that the protest is unnecessary and unjustified in view of the actions Lagos State, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made over the past year. We fervently want to let them know that the protest in Lagos is unnecessary.
We shall teach our children, families, and communities the value of tenaciously defending the country we currently call home as members of the local government. “We will continue to inform the government about the desires of the people,” he said.
