Dam levels in the Free State reflect a slight decrease from 62.0% last week to 61.7% this week. The level appears to be going down slightly on weekly basis thus justifying both behavioural changes in water use taking into consideration of latest heat wave sweeping across the country. Triggering evaporation in most dams however acknowledged the showers experienced on Tuesday.
According to the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) dam level daily monitoring report from Tuesday 27 November 2018. Major Dam levels are decreasing instead of increasing raising a concern to both (DWS) and Water Service Providers (WSP) in the country generally.
Caledon Dam is at 69.1% last week at 73.9% Rustfontein Dam currently at 26.8% as compared to 28.4% last week same time. Bloemhoff Dam is currently at 72.9% last week was at 76.2%. Caledon River is at 72.9% from76.2% last week same time. Followed by Welbedacht Dam with 69.1% from 73.9% same time last week.
