PRETORIA – Customs officials and sniffer dogs intercepted 30kg of cocaine valued at R9-million at OR Tambo International Airport on Monday afternoon.
In a statement, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) said: “The tagless black bag arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo arousing a lot of suspicious activity around it.
“It was immediately detained and found to contain pieces of carbon paper, a green duvet and 30 sealed blocks of white substance testing positive for cocaine.”
The consignment was handed over to the South African Police and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (the Hawks) for further investigation.
