Seven people were injured, one of them critically, earlier today when the driver of the bakkie they were travelling in lost control of the vehicle on the Hendrina/Van Dyksdrift Road close to Middelburg.
When ER24 paramedics, Provincial EMS and Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene, they found that the vehicle had overturned.
People who were ejected from the bakkie were scattered across the scene. Some were found about 30 metres away from the bakkie.
Upon assessment of the patients, men believed to be between the ages of 30 and 45, it was found that one person was in a critical condition, three sustained moderate injuries and three sustained minor injuries.
They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown.
Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
