The girlfriend of Lekompo artist Shebeshxt has taken to social media to call for his release, urging supporters to back a petition for his bail.

Kholofelo Chuene shared a video on TikTok appealing to the public to support the musician, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke. In the post, she called on followers to stand behind the artist and give him “one last chance” to be granted bail.

The video included a petition link and a message encouraging fans to like and share the post in support of the “Lekompo king”.

ONGOING LEGAL PROCEEDINGS

Shebeshxt remains in custody following a shooting incident that took place in Polokwane in October 2025. The case has since been postponed to 15 May 2026.

The rapper is accused of being involved in a road rage altercation at a petrol station, where he allegedly shot a motorist before fleeing the scene. The victim was hospitalised in critical condition.

Authorities opened a case of attempted murder, which was later transferred to a specialised provincial unit for further investigation.

MULTIPLE CHARGES AND BAIL DENIAL

The artist has been behind bars since November 2025 after appearing in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. He faces several charges, including attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and malicious damage to property.

His bail application was denied in December 2025, and a subsequent urgent appeal was dismissed by the Polokwane High Court in January 2026.

HISTORY OF LEGAL TROUBLES

The case has drawn renewed attention to Shebeshxt’s previous run-ins with the law. In 2022, he faced attempted murder charges linked to an alleged stabbing incident in Lebowakgomo.

He was arrested again in April 2023 on charges including assault, attempted murder, and malicious damage to property, spending several months in custody before being released later that year.

MIXED PUBLIC REACTION

Public response to the bail petition has been divided. While some supporters have rallied behind the artist, calling for leniency, others argue that the seriousness of the charges should take precedence.

The case continues to unfold as Shebeshxt awaits his next court appearance, with his legal fate now resting in the hands of the courts.
