The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party said Zuma undergoes the check-up twice a year and sought to reassure supporters that there was no cause for concern about his health.

The party said Zuma remained in good spirits and was expected to resume his campaign activities on Friday.

According to reports, a close family associate has however alleged that Zuma had been feeling unwell, although his condition was not considered serious.

The associate said his hospital admission coincided with his scheduled routine medical examination.

The former president’s admission comes as he continues with his political campaign ahead of the upcoming elections.
