The South African Football Association (SAFA) and Botswana Football Association confirmed on Tuesday that Ramoreboli will leave his position as head coach of The Zebras to join Mosimane’s backroom staff.

The appointment completes a key part of Mosimane’s new-look technical team after the veteran coach was unveiled as Bafana head coach last week.

Ramoreboli Completes Mosimane’s Technical Team

Mosimane had already confirmed Kabelo Rangoaga and Musi Matlaba as members of his technical staff during his unveiling, but revealed that another assistant coach was still to be appointed.

That vacancy has now been filled by Ramoreboli, who brings considerable international and continental experience to the setup.

The 46-year-old has spent the recent part of his coaching career in charge of Botswana, while also working at club level in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent.

His appointment gives Mosimane an assistant with experience of international football and familiarity with the demands of coaching at the highest level.

Mosimane Builds A Trusted Backroom Team

Ramoreboli’s arrival also reflects Mosimane’s intention to shape his Bafana technical team around coaches who can complement his methods and approach.

The new coach opted not to retain former Bafana assistant Helman Mkhalele following Hugo Broos’ departure.

Mosimane previously explained that coaches typically prefer to work alongside members of their own trusted technical teams, making the appointments of Rangoaga, Matlaba and now Ramoreboli significant as he begins to establish his own structure.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan welcomed Ramoreboli’s return to the national-team environment, highlighting his development and achievements as a coach.

The appointment also brings together two coaches with extensive experience in African football as Mosimane prepares to lead Bafana into a new era.

Bafana Face Immediate AFCON Qualifying Test

Ramoreboli joins the setup at a crucial time, with Bafana’s 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign set to begin later this month.

South Africa are scheduled to face Guinea on 26 September, before taking on Eritrea, leaving Mosimane and his technical staff limited time to prepare for the qualifiers.

The new coaching team will therefore have to hit the ground running as Bafana begin their latest attempt to qualify for the continental showpiece.

For Ramoreboli, the appointment represents a return to the national-team environment and an opportunity to work alongside one of South Africa’s most experienced coaches.

With the AFCON qualifiers fast approaching, his experience could prove valuable as Mosimane looks to quickly establish his philosophy and build a Bafana side capable of competing for qualification.
