Alleged African National Congress (ANC) operative Brown Mogotsi is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on Tuesday to respond to allegations of police interference.
His testimony comes after several weeks of delays, during which he made multiple security-related requests to be funded by Parliament.
Mogotsi’s appearance will resume the committee’s hearings following a brief pause due to the opening of Parliament and a packed schedule.
The committee recently met to review its witness list after receiving an extension to conclude proceedings by the end of March.
His testimony follows that of forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan, who, like Mogotsi, had requested security measures before agreeing to appear.
Mogotsi will provide evidence regarding his alleged connections to Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
The committee expects Mogotsi’s appearance to be followed by O’Sullivan on Thursday, though only a few hours are anticipated for the latter’s testimony.
