The City of Cape Town has announced a scheduled 10-hour electricity outage in parts of Athlone on Wednesday, 30 July. The interruption will allow electricity and generation teams to carry out essential maintenance on the infrastructure in the area.
The planned work is set to take place between 8:00 and 18:00, depending on weather conditions and other operational factors.
Only areas highlighted on the official outage maps will be affected. These maps can be accessed online via https://bit.ly/3Uahxab.
Streets expected to be affected include:
- Dove
- Canary
- Starling
- Eagle
- Repulse
This is not the first time maintenance has been conducted in the area. Last week, similar work was carried out, affecting the following streets:
- Forbes
- Covendon
- Blende
- Elwyn
- Saltire
- Unity
- Brand
- Raft
- Krieket
- Parkway
The City has warned that power may be restored at any point during the outage period. Residents are advised to treat all electrical installations as live throughout the day.
Customers are encouraged to:
- Switch off appliances to avoid damage caused by potential power surges
- Exercise caution when working with electrical devices
- Make necessary arrangements ahead of the outage
