Television cameras and recording equipment have been prohibited from the Durban High Court, where five men accused of murdering South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes appeared on Thursday.
Forbes and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot and killed outside a popular entertainment venue in Durban in 2023. The case has drawn widespread public attention.
During the proceedings, Judge Jacqueline Henriques ruled that no recording devices would be permitted inside the courtroom.
This decision marks a change from earlier stages of the case when media houses were allowed to broadcast proceedings while the matter was still before the Magistrates Court.
The case was postponed for a pre-trial conference.
