JAM City Radio is launching the Next Level campaign, here to further the cause of empowering young people to fulfill their potential in partnership with IT Training Corporation. This generation of young South Africans has been hit hard by the economic crisis. The transition from education into the labour market has become more difficult and many young people believe that their concerns are not taken up by politicians.
More than half of them feel that in their country young people have been marginalized and excluded from economic and social life. Facing this challenge, with social tensions rising and a clear need to tackle radicalization and alienation, what can JAM City Radio offer? As the music station for the Youth, we will support young people to help ensure they acquire the skills they need for today and tomorrow’s labour market through awareness programs.
What is more, JAM City Radio will work to make sure they are encouraged to be educated and equipped with social, civic and intercultural competences as well as a strong capacity for critical thinking. In these efforts, we want to ensure that particular attention is paid to the needs of disadvantaged youth. Young people need the opportunity to develop the skills and competences which help them to find their place in the labour market and in society as a whole. The Next Level campaign supports mobility and training for young people and provides opportunities for dialogue and joint projects.
This campaign presents a selection of youth projects which illustrate the rich variety of learning opportunities supported by JAM City Radio. We hope it can be a source of inspiration for young people across South Africa.
