Hijack tragedy claims Dumi Masilela’s life

Rhythm City actor Dumi Masilela died this morning as as a result of a tragic hijacking ordeal on Wednesday evening.

The actor‚ who played the role of Sifiso Ngema on the popular e.tv soapie and recently got married to former Muvhango actress Simphiwe Ngema.

Dumi Masilela (29) was confirmed dead on Wednesday from wounds sustained from an attempted hijacking.

The information gathered about the attempted hijack was that a black Jeep chased and opened fire on the Golf 7, that was driven by Masilela and his passenger. They attempted to flee the scene, while the culprits opened fire.

Gauteng police said they are now searching for the perpetrators.

“We are investigating a case of murder and attempted hijacking. Two men (including Masilela) were sitting in a white Golf 7 last night when they were approached by a black Jeep who tried hijack them. The two occupants in the Golf tried to drive off and one of them was shot,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele.

After Masilela was wounded he pulled over and his friend then drove him to the hospital, where he died on Thursday morning.

This news follows a recent sad passing of Kwaito star Tsekeleke and Timothy Khoza(MP) who died in a car accident with three more MPs injured in the same accident.
