PRETORIA – President Jacob Zuma has a new official spokesperson effective immediately, the presidency announced on Sunday.
“The presidency wishes to advise that the deputy director general and head of the private office of the president Dr Bongani Ngqulunga will act as spokesperson to the president from today [Sunday], 8 May 2016 until further notice,” a statement said.
Ngqulunga would also retain his functions as head of the president’s private office.
Bongani Majola, who had been acting as Zuma’s spokesman since last year while he served as director of media liaison, had since been promoted to chief director of communications and now headed the communication unit in the president’s office.
The post was previously occupied by Zanele Mngadi, who was now chief of staff in the environmental affairs ministry, the presidency said.
