PARKTOWN – A collaborative intelligence-driven operation resulted in the apprehension of three individuals suspected of participating in a series of residential robberies and burglaries in Gauteng. The suspects were taken into custody in Midrand on Monday, 28 October 2024, after authorities discovered items believed to be stolen, as well as tools commonly used for breaking and entering.
The Crime Intelligence unit of the police has obtained information regarding individuals suspected of involvement in house robberies and burglaries within the Gauteng Province. Additionally, it has been reported that these suspects are expected to be present in Douglasdale on Monday, 28 October 2024.
The team, which comprises multiple law enforcement agencies including the South African Police Service (SAPS) Counter Intelligence Investigations, SAPS Johannesburg K9 Unit, SAPS Gauteng Tactical Response Team, SAPS Tracking Team, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, and Tracker Connect, was strategically positioned and actively monitoring for the suspects.
The investigative team identified a vehicle that corresponded with the provided description, which was traveling towards Kyalami in Midrand. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated, resulting in a high-speed pursuit. Ultimately, the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop, leading to the apprehension of three individuals. During the subsequent search, law enforcement discovered multiple laptops, various electronic devices, and tools commonly associated with burglary. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had recently perpetrated two residential burglaries in Douglasdale.
All three suspects were apprehended, and the vehicle they were operating, a Suzuki Ertiga, was also confiscated as it was utilized in the commission of the crime.
The suspects may be associated with a series of robberies and residential burglaries that have occurred in the Gauteng region.
