President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit Brussels, Belgium, on 9 and 10 October 2025, to take part in the European Union (EU) Global Gateway Forum.
The visit follows an invitation from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, extended after their recent engagements at the United Nations General Assembly in New York and the eighth South Africa–EU Summit held earlier this year.
The Global Gateway Forum serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society across various regions.
This year’s discussions will centre on the EU’s international investment strategy, with a focus on building smart, clean, and secure connections in the digital, energy, and transport sectors.
Leaders are also expected to explore ways to promote sustainable infrastructure and expand trade opportunities, particularly for developing economies.
Participants will include heads of state and representatives from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, and the African Union.
President Ramaphosa will be joined by a strong South African delegation aimed at reinforcing international partnerships and attracting investment.
Among those accompanying him are International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, Science and Innovation Minister Blade Nzimande, Higher Education Deputy Minister Buti Manamela, and Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Solly Malatsi.
According to the Presidency, South Africa’s participation in the forum underscores its commitment to global cooperation and sustainable development.
