Biography
Born in the Masaka District of Central Uganda to property-investing parents, Hamis Kiggundu was raised with a strong foundation in commerce. He attended Kabojja International School in Kampala before earning a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and completing a diploma at the Law Development Centre. While studying, Kiggundu used starting capital from his father to build a successful garments trading business. He quickly expanded from local retail into firsthand commodity importing from China, Thailand, and Dubai, wholesaling goods across East Africa.
Reinvesting his trading profits into land acquisition, Kiggundu incorporated Ham Enterprises in 2009 and transitioned into multi-scale commercial property development. In 2010, he launched Ham Towers in the Makerere suburb of Kampala, followed rapidly by Ham Shopping Mall. His business interests expanded into the multinational Ham Group of Companies, spanning commercial real estate, logistics, technology platforms, and specialized financial initiatives like Ham Agro-Bank. Notably, he constructed a replica of the U.S. White House in Kampala to serve as his corporate headquarters.
Kiggundu has increasingly focused on strategic national infrastructure and industrialization projects. Following a presidential directive, he led the multi-million-dollar public-private redevelopment of Nakivubo Stadium (Hamz Stadium) in central Kampala. He has also spearheaded a $156 million Integrated Agro-Processing Industrial Plant (IAIP) project at Akright City aimed at boosting agricultural value addition and import substitution. An author on economic self-reliance, Kiggundu actively funds social welfare, youth empowerment programs, and educational development across Uganda.
