DURBAN – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has refused to apologise for its leader, Julius Malema’s allegedly anti-Indian remarks. There also no complaint lodged with SAHRC over the statement uttered by Malema.
During the party’s fourth anniversary celebration in Durban, Malema accused Indians of exploiting African workers.
The EFF Leader said, “Here in Durban, here in KZN, everything strategic is given to Indians … every big tender … they are the ones who own everything. We are saying share with our people. We also want to say, here in KZN stop ill-treating our people. They are ill-treating our people worse than the Boer Afrikaners treated our people. This is not anti-Indian, it’s the truth, they must treat our people properly.”
The EFF defended his utterances, adding that Indians must confront their own ills and hatred of African people. The party said the racism African people suffer at the hands of Indian businesses and families must end. The DA has condemned Malema’s comments, saying he must apologise.
The SA Minority Rights Equality Movement is reportedly taking Malema to Equality Court over the matter.
