The bail hearing of Victor Majola, the man charged with the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, has been postponed to Thursday, 15 January as the state and defence work to resolve concerns about missing CCTV footage.
Majola is facing charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit a crime after Stock was fatally shot outside a building in Johannesburg last month. At the time, Stock’s security company was reportedly contracted to provide protection at the premises.
When the matter appeared in court on Wednesday, it emerged that CCTV footage from a nearby butchery, which had been expected to serve as part of the evidence, was no longer available. This development prompted Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi to delay proceedings to give both parties time to address the issue.
Magistrate Tlhapi indicated that the court would consider the bail application once the state and defence had finalised their submissions relating to the missing video material.
The case is expected to resume on Thursday, when the court will review those submissions before continuing with the bail process.
