Malema Linked To Alleged Tender Manipulation In Tshwane
Testimony at the Madlanga Commission has linked Julius Malema to alleged irregularities in a municipal tender process in Tshwane.
The allegations relate to a 2024 tender issued by the Tshwane Metro Police Department for private security services to safeguard critical infrastructure.
Gauteng police sergeant Fannie Nkosi told the commission that he received a WhatsApp message in March last year from TMPD Deputy Chief Umashi Dlamini. The message reportedly contained a list of seven companies said to have been recommended for the tender.
According to Nkosi’s testimony, Dlamini indicated that the companies had been put forward by individuals linked to the Economic Freedom Fighters and its leadership. The name “Juju” was referenced in the communication, a nickname widely associated with Malema, who is also referred to within the party as Commander in Chief.
Nkosi told the commission that he could not independently confirm the identity of those behind the recommendations. It also remains unclear whether any of the companies listed were ultimately awarded the tender.
The inquiry is continuing to examine allegations of corruption and irregular procurement processes, with further testimony expected as the investigation unfolds.
