At approximately 15:00 yesterday, a 53-year-old Metro Police officer was fatally wounded close to his residence in Avon Street, Devon Park Eersterivier by two armed suspects who fled the scene with his service pistol and his hand radio. The deceased was on duty and dressed in uniform at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the murder are being investigated and any person with information regarding the matter is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111. The motive for the attack on the police officer is yet to be established.
