Founding member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and current Member of Parliament, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, is reportedly facing internal challenges within the party.
Speculation suggests he may be excluded from the upcoming EFF National People’s Assembly, scheduled for December 13 to 15 at Nasrec, Johannesburg.
This significant event will elect the party’s new leadership, including a replacement for the deputy presidency, a position vacated by Floyd Shivambu following his recent move to the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP).
Party insiders allege that Ndlozi’s potential exclusion is part of a strategic effort by the EFF leadership to limit his influence and block any potential candidacy.
Although Ndlozi has publicly stated that he does not intend to contest any leadership positions, some within the party fear his presence at the assembly could still disrupt internal dynamics.
Ndlozi has historically enjoyed strong support among younger, outspoken members of the EFF, many of whom had initially viewed him as a frontrunner for the deputy president position, in opposition to the party’s preferred candidate, former Secretary-General Godrich Gardee.
Adding to the speculation is Ndlozi’s notable absence from recent key EFF gatherings, including meetings of the Central Command Team (CCT) and the war council.
This absence has fueled rumours of a suspension, especially in light of his silence following Shivambu’s departure to the MKP.
Party insiders suggest this has raised doubts about Ndlozi’s loyalty, with some interpreting his removal from the parliamentary portfolio committee on trade, industry, and competition as a potential demotion tied to internal politics.
Tensions within the party appear heightened as the conference draws near. Julius Malema, the party leader, recently made public remarks emphasising loyalty and commitment, which some interpret as veiled criticisms aimed at Ndlozi.
These comments have added to speculation that Ndlozi’s alleged alignment with Shivambu has strained his relationship with the party’s top leadership, sparking rumours of a possible exit or expulsion.
Reports of Ndlozi’s potential exclusion from the national conference have divided opinions among EFF members and supporters.
While some view the move as a calculated strategy to secure outcomes favorable to the current leadership hierarchy, others have raised concerns about transparency and growing internal divisions.
Despite the rumours, those close to Ndlozi insist that he remains committed to the EFF and has no intention of leaving unless forced out.
However, his future within the party remains uncertain as the December assembly approaches.
The unfolding situation surrounding Ndlozi highlights deeper ideological and political tensions within the EFF, which could have significant implications for the party’s strategy and cohesion.
The upcoming National People’s Assembly will be a pivotal moment in shaping the EFF’s leadership and policy direction.
As factions compete for influence, excluding a prominent figure like Ndlozi could signify a shift in the party’s internal dynamics and overall political direction.
Whether his absence from the conference is a temporary setback or a defining moment in his EFF career remains uncertain.
