JOHANNESBURG – ANC Gauteng chairman, Paul Mashatile told former Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau directly in a speech on Sunday, saying it was not his fault the ANC lost control of the metro.
Mashatile was speaking at the funeral service of councillor Nonhlanhla “Stompie” Mthembu in Naturena in the south of Johannesburg.
“We have lost Joburg, it is not your fault the ANC let you down. And it’s time for the ruling party to listen and put arrogance aside, and to address the issue,” Mashatile told Tau. The ANC Gauteng leader addressed issues of corruption and state capture, saying it was time to “fix” problems in the party.He ended his speech dramatically, quoting Martin Luther King jr by saying: “There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”
