Kaizer Chiefs started the season strong, with wins over Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu, sparking optimism that the team was finally regaining its rhythm.
However, this early momentum quickly faded after a league loss to SuperSport United, followed by a draw with Magesi and another defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs’ hopes for silverware definitely took a major hit after the 4-0 defeat to Sundowns in the Carling Knockout, leaving them eliminated from the competition.
Amid all these setbacks, the pressure is on coach Nasreddine Nabi to turn things around.
Former Chiefs player Mandla Masango, believes that signing a player like Bongani Zungu could strengthen the squad.
Masango, who was a key player in the club’s 2014/15 title-winning season, recommended that his former club sign the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder.
Zungu is currently a free agent, presenting Chiefs with an opportunity ahead of the January transfer window.
Chiefs have previously been linked to Zungu, but a deal did not materialise in the last transfer window.
The Glamour Boys are also prioritising a striker, with several high-performing forwards linked to the club as they seek to boost their attacking options.
