PRETORIA – Justice Mashoba, accused of gunning down a fellow ANC member during the Tshwane unrest, has been granted R2,000 bail untl his trial date on 11 august.
He is accused of killing Simon Mollo Modihe during a fight following the announcement of Thoko Didiza as the ANC’s Tshwane mayoral candidate.
According to Mashoba’s lawyer, Rahlagane Leshalabe, Mashoba – a dedicated ANC member working as an administrative clerk in the office of the Speaker of Tshwane – does not even own a gun.
He is accused of gunning down Simon Mollo Modihe in an apparent factional battle between Tshwane ANC members.
The state contends that Mashoba fired randomly into the ground outside the Pretoria Showground. Modihe gave chase and it was then, the state says, that Mashoba shot him twice, killing him.
Mashoba confirmed he was there on the night, but says there is no evidence he was the shooter.
