International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola says Cabinet will not be swayed by outside forces in its decision on the possible closure of the Israeli embassy in South Africa.
Responding to questions in the National Council of Provinces, Lamola confirmed that the matter is still under consideration by Cabinet and is being processed in line with constitutional procedures.
The question arose from the Economic Freedom Fighters’ Virgill Gericke, who sought clarity on the delay following the National Assembly’s earlier resolution during the sixth administration.
Lamola assured that no external pressure is influencing the process and added that the embassy has already been downgraded. A final decision is expected before the end of the year.
