The Parliamentary inquiry probing the SABC affairs and the board’s fitness to hold office will continue on Thursday.

Former SABC CEO Lulama Mokhobo, former-board member Vusi Mavuso and current chairperson Mbulaheni Maguvhe are scheduled to testify on Thursday.

On Wednesday Public Protector Busi Mkhwebane told the committee that the public broadcaster had failed to implement remedial action as directed by her office in a 2014 report.

Committee chairperson Vincent Smith says it is unclear if Maguvhe will appear after he walked out on Wednesday.

However the committee says it  will use Parliament’s legal powers to summon Maguvhe if he refuses to appear before them.

Maguvhe walked out after the committee would not supply documents to him in braille.

He is scheduled to appear Thursday afternoon.

Committee chairperson Vincent Smith says: “We dispute the fact that we violated his rights as we said earlier but I don’t think it’s his call about whether he will appear here or not. We will summons him here to appear. So we will wait and see what happens.”

“At the point that he is suppose to appear and he does not arrive, we will  take a decision as a committee in terms of the way forward. But we just want to put it on record that we have the power to summons anybody to appear before parliament.”
