Wayde van Niekerk is exceptionally fast. He has broken the World and subsequently Olympic Record in the 400m sprint, beating the legendary Michael Johnson’s 17-year-old time.
Van Niekerk ran a 43.03 second rush to annihilate his opponents at the final race in Rio de Janeiro.
In March 2016, he became the 107th athlete to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 metres and was one of the favourites to win this race, but not quite the way he did. As a new Audi Sport Ambassador, van Niekerk (24) will have the deserved privilege of driving around in one of the fastest Audis in the country, namely the Audi RS 3 Sportback.
Launched here over the past few months, the RS 3 is capable of sprinting from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds, reaching a governed top speed of 250km/h. According to statistics, Wayde ran 100m every 10.76 seconds on average.
Usain Bolt, who won the 100m sprint final event, did it in 9.81 seconds. Of course it is a different race with different dynamics, but it does go to prove that the fastest man in the world over the longer distance is simply Wayde.
And yes, he needs to be in one of the fastest cars in the world too!
