Johannesburg – Famous former Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo has once again made headlines after he was accused of recently murdering another alleged drug dealer.
According to The South African newspaper, MojaLove issued a very stern warning to Khumalo after the broadcaster claimed to have received complaints about unfortunate incidents that occurred while Xolani was filming a show dressed as Sizok’thola.
The statement released by MojaLove spokesperson Nonzwakazi Cekete reads as follows:
“MojaLove has been receiving complaints about unfortunate incidents during filming from The Consulate General of Nigeria and the Embassy of the DRC about their citizens who have been attacked during filming.
“MojaLove wants to clarify that the channel is not responsible for the filming activities in question and disassociates itself from any unauthorized actions. ‘Sizok’thola’ is the intellectual property of MojaLove, and Xolani Khumalo’s use of the channel’s concept constitutes a legal infringement. MojaLove has issued a cease and desist letter to him and will take all necessary lawful measures to halt his actions.”
In 2023, Xolani was fired from the channel while he had an ongoing alleged murder case of a drug dealer who was said to have died while Khumalo and his crew were filming an episode during a raid.
Meanwhile, Briefly News reported that former Sizokhuthola presenter Xolani Khumalo has apparently thrown his weight behind former president Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto Wesizwe party. The star was recently photographed with Zuma’s daughter, Dudu Zuma-Sambudla.
Xolani Khumalo has been in the news lately because of his scandal at Moja Love TV. The star’s fans have been calling for his return to the controversial programme after he was fired.
Police distance themselves from anti-crime show Sizok’thola
National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola and the Gauteng Department of Community Safety have distanced themselves from anti-crime show Sizok’thola as questions are being raised about the legality of the tactics used on the popular programme.
The show, its presenter, Xolani Khumalo, and the channel it airs on – Moja Love – have found themselves in the middle of a murder and assault storm following the death of a drug dealer the crew confronted in Katlehong, southeast of Johannesburg, a week ago.
Robert Varrie, whose loved ones admitted that he sold drugs to make ends meet, died at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in nearby Vosloorus.
A person close to the family, who has knowledge of Varrie’s injuries, said the autopsy revealed that he had sustained severe injuries, most likely from blunt-force trauma.
State ready to prosecute Xolani Khumalo
The State says it is ready to prosecute former Sizok’thola presenter and drug buster Xolani Khumalo, while his alleged victim’s family has called for more arrests.
Khumalo and his crew allegedly killed reported drug dealer Robert “Kicks” Varrie, 49, in Katlehong in July 2023.
Prosecutor Pheello Vilakazi, addressing a packed Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, said an investigation into allegations of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and malicious damage to property were completed.
“During our last appearance before the court, the matter was postponed for further investigations.
