The DA says the appointment of David Mabuza as a Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa is the worst selection of all in the new cabinet announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday.
DA Chief Whip in Parliament, John Steenhuisen, says this is a deeply compromised individual.
“This fatal compromise made by Ramaphosa simply shows that Ramaphosa puts the interests of the unity of the ANC ahead of the interests of the Republic of South Africa. Mabuza is going to be in the heels of the Ramaphosa presidency.”
Steenhuisen says other similar bad choices made by Ramaphosa is the appointment of former Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and former Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba.
He says: “You also see the retention of minister Malusi Gigaba, Minister Bathabile Dlamini and Minister Nomvula Mokonyane despite terrible perfomance by those ministers. Minister Gigaba is back at the Home Affairs where he naturalised the Guptas.”
