Former estate agent and convicted racist Vicki Momberg’s application for leave to appeal her guilty conviction and three-year sentence for crimen injuria has been postponed to next Wednesday in the Randburg Magistrates Court.
Last week, Momberg was sentenced to three years in prison, with one year suspended for her racist tirade in 2016.
She was found guilty on four counts of crimen injuria after she lashed out at a black police officer who helped her after an alleged smash-and-grab incident in Northriding, Johannesburg.
Momberg made a brief appearance in the dock before her case was postponed due to her legal representative being ill.
The postponment is also to allow the state time to furnish the defence with the transcripts of the recordings used during the trial.
In November last year, Momberg was heard complaining, about what she described as the “calibre of blacks” in a video clip that went viral.
She also used the K-word 48 times in the video. Momberg will remain behind bars until her next appearance next Wednesday.
