The 24-year-old Zimbabwean national is expected to appear in the Hopefield Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of the contravening the Electronic Communication Act.
The arrest on Thursday afternoon followed several complaints in the past two months from victims who had suffered substantial financial losses after visiting the restaurant‚ Hawks spokesman Captain Lloyd Ramovha said.
“The resultant probe by the Commercial wing of the Hawks‚ resulted in the arrest of a Zimbabwean National‚ believed to be responsible for the alleged illicit operation: he added.
“One unauthorised point of sale device was found in the suspect’s possession as well as two bank cards with questionable authenticity. “The suspect is expected to appear in the Hopefield Magistrate’s Court on Friday‚ to answer to allegations in contravention of the Electronic Communication Act‚” Ramovha said.
