JOHANNESBURG – Airports Company SA (Acsa) and The Black Business Council (BBC) have contradicting versions of how a donation of R5 million to the business lobby seemingly disappeared.
The donation, brokered by BBC president Danisa Baloyi, is said to have been specifically instructed by Baloyi’s office to be paid to intermediary company, Merit Energy, this is according to Acsa.
Last month, City Press reported on the missing Acsa donation and how fundraiser Dominic Ntsele was being pursued for the said monies by the BBC.
BBC secretary-general George Sebulela confirmed that criminal charges against both Ntsele and Merit Energy, which received the cash from Acsa on the BBC’s behalf, had been pressed. Dr Baloyi has requested to refrain from any activity of the Black Business Council pending the finalisation of the investigation into the matter.
On Monday, Dr Danisa Baloyi was suspended as president of the Black Business Council over the “missing” R5 million donation from ACSA pending investigation.
