PRETORIA – The Oscar Pistorius case is back in court Friday.
State prosecutors are seeking permission to appeal against the disgraced paralympian’s six-year jail sentence.

Pistorius was jailed in July for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The National Prosecuting Authority says the sentence is too lenient.
But the defence team says a continuation of the matter is not in the interests of justice.

The court hearing will be held in Pretoria with Judge Thokozile Masipa present.
The NPA will argue that another judge would most likely have come to a different conclusion.
Pistorius was initially sentenced to five years for manslaughter, but the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned that verdict to one of murder, forcing a new sentence to be issued.
The subsequent 6-year sentence was been widely criticised to be too lenient.
