Can Rahm Make History? LIV Golf UK Returns to JCB!
ROCESTER — Final preparations for the LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB 2026 are underway as the world’s elite golfers descend on Rocester for the third consecutive year. The league returns to the prestigious JCB Golf & Country Club from 23 to 26 July, with home favorites Majesticks Golf Club and defending champions Legion XIII fronting the media during Tuesday’s practice rounds.
The event marks a significant moment for Legion XIII, the two-time defending team champions. After securing victories in both 2024 and 2025 on this course, the team arrives with high expectations. Captain Jon Rahm, speaking alongside teammates Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt, noted the personal stakes involved this week. A victory for Rahm could potentially clinch the 2026 individual title, a feat he says reflects his commitment to consistency and his competitive process.
The Majesticks Golf Club, featuring an all-English lineup of co-captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, along with Laurie Canter and Sam Horsfield, are banking on massive home support. Westwood, a Midlands native, described the event as a “home game,” noting that the presence of local fans and friends provides a significant psychological boost. The team is eager to return to the podium after their historical connection to the league’s inaugural event in 2022.
In a lighter start to the week’s proceedings, the annual Caddie Team Championship took place on Tuesday afternoon. The competition saw caddies take to the course while their professional players carried the bags. Legion XIII continued their winning streak at the venue, defeating Fireballs GC in a three-hole playoff after both teams finished the nine-hole scramble at 8-under par.
The return of LIV Golf to Staffordshire highlights the growing footprint of the league in the United Kingdom. With JCB Golf & Country Club becoming a staple on the tour calendar, the event has transitioned from a new fixture into a highly anticipated tradition for local fans. The presence of international stars like Rahm and local legends like Poulter and Westwood continues to drive ticket sales and global viewership.
As the tournament tees off on Thursday, the focus will remain on whether Legion XIII can achieve a historic hat-trick of team titles or if the Majesticks can leverage their home-turf advantage to claim a magical victory in front of the English crowds. Limited tickets remain available for the four-day event.
