JOHANNESBURG – Sports minister Fikile Mbalula has hit back at a racist comment posted on Facebook about sports transformation.
Last week Mbalula banned four sporting codes from hosting international tournaments, for failing to meet transformation targets.
In response, Facebook user Matthew Theunissen used the K-word to describe government.
The post soon went viral, sparking outrage among social media users.
Mbalula says racist people like Theunissen, who insult government for its drive to transform South Africa, are taking the country backwards.
“The playing field is not the same, that is the recognition some white people must understand, that playing field is not the same, seeking to level the playing field, because our strength is our diversity but what we cannot undo is those who are racist and believe one race is superior than the other,” the minister said.
