Pretoria – The Department of Energy has attributed the decrease in the petrol price to a stronger rand. The department announced a 69 cents drop in the price of petrol which will kick in on Wednesday.
The department announced a 69 cents drop in the price of petrol, which will kick in on Wednesday.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake says while the price of petrol will decrease, diesel will increase by 14 and 15 cents for both grades.
The maximum retail price of liquid petroleum gas (LPGas) will decrease by R1,20 per kg.
Maake says the price of diesel has increased globally.
“The main reason for this decrease is the strengthening of the rand against the dollar, during the period under review compared to the previous period, and also the decrease in the sale of petrol in the international market.”
