The man arrested in connection with the alleged torture of patrons at Zanzou nightclub in Hatfield is set to appear in thePretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday for a formal bail application.
The 41-year-old suspect, who worked as a bouncer at the nightclub, faces six charges of assault and eight additional charges of compelled sexual assault.
However, his identity remains undisclosed due to uncertainties surrounding the outcome of an identity parade.
He is one of eight men being pursued by police in connection with the alleged abuse of customers at Zanzou.
The case gained public attention last month when multiple videos circulated on social media, showing bouncers physically and sexually assaulting a group of young men.
During his initial court appearance last week, the accused made startling allegations, claiming that police assaulted him while he was in custody.
His legal representatives told the court that although he was taken for medical treatment, he was denied care because his bruises were not visibly apparent.
The court also heard that the suspect has a prior conviction for shoplifting, though his legal team downplayed its significance.
At this stage, he remains the only person arrested in connection with the assaults at Zanzou nightclub.
