Cape Town, South Africa , 18 November 2025 — Hytera Communications marked its fifteenth year in Africa with a major showcase of mission critical communication technologies at AfricaCom 2025, underscoring its long-term commitment to enhancing safety, resilience and connectivity across the continent.

Speaking at the event, Mark Zheng, Managing Director for Hytera Southern Africa, said the milestone reflects the company’s sustained dedication to supporting essential sectors including public safety, energy, security, transportation and emergency response. He noted that Hytera’s technologies have played an important role in improving operational reliability for organisations working in remote, high-risk and time-sensitive environments.

At AfricaCom, Hytera introduced several new and upgraded solutions designed for frontline teams operating under demanding conditions. The new P60 Smart PoC Radio drew strong interest for its boundary-free calling and multimedia collaboration features, enabling seamless communication even in infrastructure-poor regions. The rugged dual-mode PDC690 was presented as a key advancement for teams that require uninterrupted connectivity, offering smooth switching between broadband and narrowband networks during critical field operations.

At the centre of Hytera’s AfricaCom presence was its Command-and-Control Centre and Unified Communications Platform. The system consolidates devices, data and dispatch capabilities into one intelligent ecosystem, enabling real-time coordination and faster decision-making. Hytera also highlighted its 4G and 5G solutions based on 3GPP standards, including components such as the BBU5801M and RRU5800, which support a phased evolution toward broadband and future 5G readiness while protecting existing PMR investments.

Zheng explained that Hytera’s convergent approach allows mobile network operators and systems integrators to expand into mission critical markets without replacing established infrastructure. He said this positions Hytera as a technology partner capable of addressing Africa’s rapid digital transformation and the unique challenges of remote or hazardous operational environments.

Reflecting on the company’s progress, Zheng noted that Hytera’s solutions enable industries to transmit multimedia data from isolated sites, maintain reliable communication during dangerous operations and keep widely dispersed teams connected when response time directly affects safety outcomes.

As part of its AfricaCom activities, Hytera hosted its annual networking dinner on 12 November, bringing together partners, customers and industry leaders from across the continent. The event highlighted shared achievements, emerging insights and future plans to strengthen mission critical communication systems in 2026 and beyond.

Zheng added that AfricaCom continues to serve as an essential platform for collaboration. He emphasised Hytera’s strength in converging TETRA, DMR and PoC technologies to improve interoperability for smart city development, enterprise operations and public safety environments. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Africa’s digital transformation through innovation, partnership and capacity building.

Hytera’s Southern Africa office in Johannesburg remains the foundation of its continental presence, offering technical support, training and local capability development. Through close engagement with partners, Hytera says it will continue expanding its role in shaping Africa’s communications landscape, empowering communities and enabling a safer, more connected future.
