Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed to the Cape Times that an adult man and an adult woman had been arrested and appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court. He said the matter was before court. The report did not provide their names, bail status or next appearance date.

Sithole’s mother, Jabulile, alleged that he was attacked on the night of 1 October. She said the family found him at another house and initially struggled to comprehend that he was dead. She also alleged that his younger brother recorded a conversation concerning the attack. TownPress has not reviewed that recording, and the family’s account has not been established in court.

BOSA’s Cape Town mayoral candidate, Roger Solomons, condemned the killing and pledged support for the family. He called for those responsible to receive severe sentences if convicted.

The available reporting contains no response from the accused or their legal representatives. Their arrests do not establish guilt, and the circumstances of Sithole’s death remain for investigators and the court to determine.
