DMX was found unconscious in the parking lot of a Ramada Inn in Yonkers, New York on Monday night.
The 45-year-old rapper – who has had run-ins with the law for years – was not not breathing and did not have a pulse, according to TMZ. Police stepped in and saved his life.
The site claimed it appeared as if he was having a drug overdose, but the musician’s representatives have said the performer suffered an asthma attack.
Yonkers police responded to a call about an ‘unconscious male’ and the hotel after 6 pm.
A source told TMZ that the officers found the Where The Hood At hit maker on the ground in the parking lot next to a parked car.
It was added that the artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, appeared ‘lifeless’ and quickly CPR was administered.
The officers also gave DMX Narcan, an antidote to narcotic ODs, it was added by the site.
DMX became “semi-conscious” and was taken to the hospital.
After one minute, DMX had his pulse back and became ‘semi-conscious,’ it was added. He was then taken to the hospital by ambulance.
He is reportedly in stable condition and still in the hospital. It is not known if he will be faced with criminal charges.
The site added they believe the star has suffered a drug overdose because a source told the police officers on the scene that the No Sunshine singer had ‘ingested some sort of powder’ before fell into unconsciousness.
DMX first became a success in the late Nineties when he released Get At Me Dog on Def Jam Recordings.
The single was certified Gold by the RIAA. His first major-label album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, which included the single Ruff Ryders Anthem, was released in May 1998. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S and sold over five million copies.
Later that year, DMX released his second album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, where it remained for three consecutive weeks.
His other hits have included …And Then There Was X, The Great Depression, Grand Champ and Year Of The Dog… Again.
Since becoming a public figure, DMX’s multiple arrests have been for offenses including resisting arrest, animal cruelty, reckless driving, unlicensed driving, drug possession, and identity falsification.
