PRETORIA – Transport Minister Barbara Creecy has expressed her deepest sympathies to the families who lost loved ones in a tragic accident that resulted in eight fatalities on Friday morning in KwaZulu-Natal.
The incident involved a head-on collision between a vehicle carrying children and a truck on the N2 highway, near Mandeni.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have lost their loved ones this morning,” the Minister stated. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, reported that the driver of a seven-seater vehicle lost control, leading to the crash with the truck, which then veered off the road and overturned.
“Our hearts go out to the families and relatives of the eight victims of this tragic accident between bridges 18 and 19 on the N2 Mandeni. It is particularly heartbreaking that young people are among the victims.
We urge motorists to exercise caution while driving,” the MEC added.
