JOHANNESBURG – Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane will on Monday release her report on an investigation into allegations of misuse of funds relating to Nelson Mandela’s funeral.
Mkhwebane will release the report into “misappropriation of public funds, improper conduct and maladministration by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government and other organs of State in connection with the expenditure incurred in preparation for the funeral of the late former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.”
It is alleged officials in the province misused money allocated for memorial services for Mandela.
The municipality had set aside R10-million for these events, but it was discovered that R6-million of this was used for something else.
