Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa was heard speaking on illegal foreigners at an ANC rally in the country and just a few days later the country is experiencing yet another xenophobic attack. The attack is believed to be the consequence of the speech of President Cyril Ramaphosa and one that has led to the loss of several lives.
Desperate for votes, ANC is showing too many cracks in its attempt to garner for local support. Ramaphosa is the purported saviour who would bring ANC out of disrepute, create a stronger fold that would bring the ANC to its former glory but immigrants in the country are not smiling with the fixer.
Patel Ramjeh, a business owner in the inner city of Durban believes people in public offices must not be reckless with words and that a person holding the highest office must have some public values “He was reckless with his words, we were shocked when we heard the speech and it is not a surprise that the ANC is losing support, our community will never vote ANC again”
Ramaphosa seen in a second video illustrates how African countries rallied around South Africa during the apartheid years and why xenophobia is bad. Analysts from African countries are calling his bluff and believes his electioneering tactics are poor.
Nigerian, Malawi and Zimbabwe elite associations are already arranging talks with the leading party to place their grievances with the government and disappointment in the way the lives of innocent people at put at risk through careless electioneering campaigns.
On the other hand, EFF is taking advantage of the bad lead by the ANC and scoring the support of nationalized immigrants and supporters, who believe Malema is a better placed African who deserves a chance to lead.
In retaliation, South Africans travelling the border since the attack in Durban have been facing numerous attacks and out lash from citizens of countries affected in the attacks. ANC is at a critical stage of vote campaign before the elections and the issue of public espionage, corruption, SOE’s bankruptcy and load shedding issues are not helping the process.
