Six more illegal miners have resurfaced from an abandoned mine shaft in Stilfontein, North West.
The men, aged between 27 and 30, surfaced overnight at the Buffelsfontein gold mine.
Their appearance adds to the growing number of arrests linked to illegal mining activities in the province, which have exceeded 1,300 since August.
Tragically, eight bodies have been recovered from disused mine shafts in the area since November.
One of the miners who resurfaced confirmed the presence of additional bodies underground.
“When I came to the surface today, there were still four dead bodies left underground,” he stated.
“I knew of six bodies. There were two that were removed, and now four are left.”
