The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued weather warnings for KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo for Monday.
Forecasters predict isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across KZN, with most areas except the northeastern parts likely to experience severe storms.
According to SAWS, these storms may bring heavy downpours, damaging winds, excessive lightning, and large amounts of small hail.
Similarly, severe thunderstorms are expected in Gauteng, the Highveld escarpment of Mpumalanga, and the southwestern Bushveld of Limpopo during the afternoon and evening.
These storms could also produce heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds.
In the Northern Cape, extremely high fire danger conditions have been forecast for the southern parts of the ZF Mgcawu District and the western areas of the Pixley Ka Seme District Municipalities.
Similar conditions are anticipated in the Limpopo Valley and the southern parts of the Limpopo Lowveld.
Meanwhile, KZN’s northwestern and northeastern regions are bracing for a heatwave with persistently high temperatures, expected to last until Wednesday.
SAWS warns of extremely uncomfortable conditions along the KZN coast and its adjacent interior, as well as in the Lowveld areas of Mpumalanga and Limpopo and the Limpopo Valley during this period.
